HR GINGER Sent to us by his new owner - Meg (July 2010)
Thought I would give you an update on little Ginger. We had an uneventful journey (6 hrs) home to the Snowy Mountains. Ginger bravely stood in the horse float with semi-trailers looming down on him from above as we motored down the freeways. We stopped a couple of times to offer him water and give him a chance to nibble some hay, but were keen to get him home before it was too dark. When we arrived at the yards, (it was dark but we have good lights), his paddock mate, Buzzy was waiting for him. They spent the night together in the yards with water & hay and by morning were the best of friends.
Here are some photos of hiss first day at Whispers farm. The weather has been quite cold - minus four this morning! But Ginger seems quite unfazed by it and obviously has a good coat to keep him warm. He and Buzzy have a stable in their paddock which they can hide in to keep out of the wind and rain. He has been well behaved and is a gentle good-natured little chap. We love him! We will keep in touch and send you more photos soon.
HR CHARLIE Sent to us by his new owner - Fern (Oct 09)
Just to give you an update on how well my darling Charlie is going. He clicked with me the moment he stepped off the truck and we have become great buddies (he comes running to me as soon as I step into the paddock). He has two new Weatherbeeta rugs, a cotton and a medium Landa, which he just adores and he is filling them out nicely. His mane is now starting to grow and is around 3cm long and the severe rug burns behind his withers and on his tail are starting to produce hair now too. He has the sweetest nature and is very curious and is finally starting to recognise his name when I call out to him. His butt now looks very nice and his topline and withers are filling out nicely, as he has quite a walk around his huge paddock, thus using his muscles quite a bit and building them up very nicely.
He and the mare next door (Grace)have finally settled down and become good mates. He is very happy and healthy and just loves attention, even when he is to be haltered, he walks up to me, sniffs the halter and puts his head down for me to put it on, which doesn't happen very often, only for the farrier etc, as everything else I do with him is done at liberty with his willing participation. When I take some pics of him unrugged I will send them on to you, he has lost most of his winter coat now and he has a beautiful glossy shine to his coat now and is a liver chestnut roan colour, I can't wait until his mane and tail have grown long again.I just adore Charlie and he has helped to heal a very deep grief for me after the loss of my darling Annie. THANK YOU so much from both me and Charlie (and also my huskies whohave now settled down extremely well after his arrival as well).

HR MONSTER Sent to us by his owner - Wendy (Aug 09)
Just wanted to give you an update on how Monster is going. He is a little treasure and is very spoilt. He has only escaped 3 times and he goes and joins my neighbors horses and thinks he can stay for a while but she brings him back for me. He is looking very smart with his winter coat, nice and fluffy and of course fat!
People who visit say how cute he is. Not sure about the horse vet though when he had his teeth done last year as he managed to give him a good kick in the knee even though he was sedated! Still the vet stood behind him and pulled his tail so what can you expect. Monster won that battle.

Monster now has a little mate his own size to pick on. His name is Elvis and he is a grey Shetland. They are the best of mates and look lovely in the paddock together.  At present I am getting quotes on brand new fencing so he will have even more paddocks to roam in and more grass. He does like to nibble on some hay now and then and loves any sort of hard feed but just a very small handful now and then. Monster is a great asset to the family andwe love him dearly.
